Transient suppression is the role of the SMAJ60CA, a bidirectional TVS diode from MDD. It is used across a protected connection to clamp transient voltage excursions, with the bidirectional variant accommodating excursions of either polarity. The surface-mount SMA package gives this two-terminal protection component a straightforward board footprint. Included in the free KiCad files are a two-pin symbol, the SMA_L4.3-W2.7-LS5.0-BI footprint with two pads, and a 3D model for reviewing its physical placement. A real import into ProtoFlow was converted and checked in the editor to verify these files. The same part can be opened directly in ProtoFlow.
