KiCad "Conflict problem between pins": the ERC pin conflict map

KiCad electrical rule check (schematic) message: Conflict problem between pins (pin_to_pin in kicad-cli reports).

What it means

Two pins on the same net have electrical types that should not be joined, such as two outputs driving each other or a power output tied to another power output. KiCad looks this up in the pin conflict map. Fix the connection, or correct the pin types if the symbol is wrong.

Common causes

  • Two regulator outputs or two push-pull outputs tied together.
  • A symbol with a pin typed as output that is really open-collector or bidirectional.
  • Two power symbols with different names on one net (also reported as multiple net names).

How to fix it

  1. Separate the outputs or add the part that should sit between them.
  2. Correct the pin electrical type in a project copy of the symbol.
  3. Adjust the conflict map only if your team deliberately treats a combination as acceptable.

Where the setting lives

Find every “Conflict problem between pins” on your board

Upload your KiCad project to the free checker. It runs KiCad 10's DRC and ERC with your own rules, shows each finding on the board and links it to its fix. 10 free checks a day, no account.
