ST's driver combines the switching function with control circuitry, while external components complete the current path. The SO-8 surface-mount format is represented by SO-8_L4.9-W3.9-P1.27-LS5.9-BL in the free KiCad download. That footprint contains eight pads and is supplied with an eight-pin schematic symbol and a 3D model for assembly viewing.
