Driving relays, lamps, or other loads from logic signals is a common role for ST's ULN2803A Darlington transistor array. Its current-sinking outputs and integrated clamp diodes make it useful for switching inductive loads with the appropriate circuit connections. This record uses a through-hole DIP-18 footprint, which supports conventional through-hole assembly.
