KiCad "Input pin not driven by any Output pins" (ERC)
KiCad electrical rule check (schematic) message: Input pin not driven by any Output pins (pin_not_driven in kicad-cli reports).
What it means
An input pin's net has nothing that can drive it. KiCad decides this from pin electrical types: input pins need an output, bidirectional, tri-state, power output or passive pin on the net. Usually the input is unconnected, or connected only to pins that are typed as inputs (for example a connector symbol with input pins).
Common causes
- The input pin is not connected at all.
- The net only joins other inputs, for example a connector whose pins are typed as input.
- A hierarchical sheet where the driver lives on another sheet but the labels do not match.
How to fix it
- Connect the pin to its driver.
- Use passive pins on connectors (the standard KiCad connector symbols do).
- Check hierarchical label and sheet pin names on both sides.
- If an input is deliberately tied off, connect it to the rail or a resistor instead of leaving it floating.
