It is used to create a regulated supply rail, with package placement and heat handling forming part of the board design. The supplied 3D model helps visualize the regulator body during assembly review. Alongside that model, the free download includes a three-pin KiCad symbol and the TO-220-3_L10.0-W4.5-P2.54-L footprint with three pads. A real ProtoFlow import was converted and checked in the editor to produce these files. The regulator is available to open directly in ProtoFlow.
