LM317
by CJ(江苏长电/长晶)
For a supply rail that needs an adjustable output, the LM317 family provides a familiar linear-regulator approach using an external resistor network. This CJ version uses a surface-mount SOT-223 package, making the package tab and surrounding copper relevant to thermal layout. The free downloadable KiCad set contains a 4-pin symbol and the exact SOT-223-3_L6.5-W3.4-P2.30-LS7.0-BR footprint, which has 4 pads, plus a 3D model. The recorded symbol and pad counts are useful when reviewing the tab connection in the design. In real designs, 2 ProtoFlow engineers have used this conversion. Open the regulator directly in ProtoFlow to continue the design.
