Environmental monitoring boards can use Sensirion's SHT31-DIS-B to measure humidity and temperature through a digital I2C interface. The free KiCad download provides a 9-pin schematic symbol and the DFN-8_L2.5-W2.5-P0.50-BL-EP footprint with 9 pads, plus a 3D model. The footprint's DFN-8 designation and exposed pad account for the difference between the package terminal count and the total pad count. This surface-mount format is useful where sensing circuitry must fit within a compact board layout. Use of the conversion by 2 ProtoFlow engineers in real designs is recorded.
