ProtoFlow is a free desktop app for Mac and Windows that starts from a plain-English description: "3.3 V buck regulator from 12 V with an enable pin" becomes an editable schematic with real, orderable parts attached from LCSC, DigiKey, or Mouser. From there you run ERC, simulate the circuit with the built-in SPICE engine (transient, AC, DC sweep, operating point), lay out the board with placement help and an autorouter, and export a native KiCad project — or Gerbers straight to a fab. It is the shortest path from "circuit idea" to "board on order" that costs nothing.
KiCad is the open-source reference: a full schematic-to-Gerber flow, a large official symbol and footprint library, an interactive router, and ngspice simulation. It is the format the industry and every forum understands, which is exactly why ProtoFlow exports to it. Many people use both: ProtoFlow to draft and check quickly, KiCad as the long-term editor and archive.
