Signals exposed through connectors often need protection against electrostatic discharge. WILLSEMI's ESD5451N-2/TR is an ESD protection diode for that purpose, supplied here as a two-terminal SMD component. Protection performance depends on the device selection and PCB routing, so confirm the electrical limits against the interface being protected.
