A supply that must regulate with its input above or below the output is a typical application for TI's LM5175RHFR buck-boost controller. It controls an external switching power stage, so the surrounding power components remain part of the circuit design. This surface-mount version uses a QFN package with an exposed pad. Its free KiCad download supplies a 29-pin symbol, the QFN-28_L5.0-W4.0-P0.50-TL-EP3.3 footprint containing 29 pads, and a 3D model. The connection count includes the exposed pad alongside the package leads. Verification comes from a real ProtoFlow import, converted and checked in the editor.
