HX1188NLT is a PULSE Ethernet transformer that provides magnetic coupling and isolation between the PHY circuitry and the cable-side connection. As a surface-mount part, it is used on networked boards that place the Ethernet magnetics separately from the cable connector. The separate symbol makes the magnetics an explicit component in the Ethernet interface schematic. This conversion has been used in real designs by 2 ProtoFlow engineers.
