Through-hole mounting makes it a useful board connection for mating sockets, removable modules or internal wiring assemblies. In the free verified KiCad files, the HDR-TH_12P-P2.54-V-M-R2-C6-S2.54-1 footprint provides twelve pads and accompanies a twelve-pin schematic symbol. A 3D model is included for visualizing the header in the assembled board alongside nearby components. This conversion has been used in real designs by 2 ProtoFlow engineers.
