For a through-hole step-down power stage, HTC's LM2596T-12 belongs to the familiar LM2596 buck regulator family. It is used with external power components to convert a higher DC supply into a lower regulated output. Its five-lead TO-220 package makes the physical arrangement of the regulator an explicit part of the board layout. Downloadable KiCad files provide a five-pin symbol, the five-pad TO-220-5L_L10.2-W4.5-P1.71-L footprint, and an included 3D model.
